Dear Members,

You may be aware that Donabate Community Council has launched a judicial review to Fingal County Council’s planning application to build around 1200 houses in the Ballymastone area of the peninsula. This recent action will have the effect of delaying, or possibly completely shelving, the development of the planned Sports Hub at Ballymastone, alongside our facilities. The planned Sports Hub was to be jointly run by St. Ita’s AFC, St. Pat’s GAA and Lambay Athletics.

The action undertaken by Donabate Community Council was undertaken without any consultation with the club, and we are very much opposed to this measure. It certainly does not represent our view. The three clubs have asked Donabate Community Council to meet us, but they have not responded. We are asking as many members of our clubs as possible to make contact with Donabate Community Council (through their website, www.donabatecommunitycouncil.ie, or by email at info@donabateportranecommunitycouncil.ie). We ask you to consider requesting that they withdraw this request for a judicial review, so that our club can develop to meet the needs of the community through the development of the Sports Hub infrastructure at Ballymastone. We also ask you to consider informing them that this current action does not represent the wishes of St. Ita’s AFC, as an important local stakeholder.

If you are emailing Donabate Community Council, please copy the club (st.itasafc@gmail.com), so that we can keep a tally of those who support us in this way.

Thank you.
